Home exchange’s popularity as an advantageous vacation alternative continues to grow. The Time Magazine writes in this weeks’ edition:

“As the economy continues to flounder, many families are forgoing summer vacations in favor of staying at home. But there’s a more interesting option that is just as cheap: vacationing in someone else’s home. Growing numbers of people here and abroad are seeking a thrifty change of scenery by skipping all the hotels and looking instead to swap houses with strangers.”

Indeed, home exchanging is a brilliant way to cut travel costs, but, experienced swappers would agree with me: home swapping offers so much more than a “cheap” vacation.  There is the kindness of strangers, who more often than not turn into friends; the discovery of gem travel destinations far off the beaten path and, yes, to name just one more advantage: Home exchange offers luxury! Where else while on vacation do you get your very private pool, a piano and a multi-lingual library, bikes and kids toys and on top of that, your very own local tour guide?
 
Big Apple Time
New York City is the most popular tourist attraction in the world. It comes as no surprise that “the city who never sleeps” also leads the list of JewettStreet’s most popular home exchange destinations. How about (re)visiting NYC this fall or during Christmas season? I confess, my very favorite time to be in Manhattan is in November when a brisk wind blows down the last oak leaves in Central Park; the Ice Rink at the Rockefeller Center is crowded with red-cheeked skaters circling to the beat of the music and when Fifth Avenue is getting into gear for the Christmas season.

Home Exchange Survey Results
Our home exchange survey brought it to light. 51 % of all JewettStreet members who participated in the poll said “I am adventurous and open to many home exchange destinations if the conditions are right.” That’s the spirit! What else did I expect?

Alternate Email Address
Once in a while our system is unable to deliver your home exchange request to another member because his/her email address is no longer valid. In such a case we try to locate the lost member via the Internet. (Thank goodness to all the social networks on the web!) If this method fails, we get as far as sending the member a copy of your home exchange request in the form of a good old snail mail.
You would help us facilitate our work tremendously by adding an alternate email address to your personal account. Go to the member area "My JewettStreet" and then click on “Personal Data”.  Type your alternate email address in "Account Information". 
Rest assured that your personal data is in very good hands with us. We would never ever use your alternative email address for any other reason than described above. See also our Privacy Policy for more details.
